I most like the people in my area , because they really are exceptionally friendly , kind and helpful . You know that they are always there to support you . It is well looked after by the residents , though not so well by passers through , who are sometimes inclined to drop litter or dump rubbish , which is such a shame . It is fairly safe , relative to other parts of London , but house burglary is still an issue and needs residents to be vigilant . It is very suitable for children and pets .
Transport
Chiswick is very well served by public transport . We have three tube stations : Gunnersbury , Chiswick Park , Turnham Green (four if you count Stamford Brook) . There are three overground stations : Chiswick Station , Kew Bridge and Gunnersbury . There are multiple bus services available from the High Road too . All these services are regular most of the time (there is the occasional cancellation or delay , but this happens in any area of London) . Most of these services tend to be centred close to the High Road , so if you live a way away you may have a walk to and from , but no more than about 20 minutes . New cycle lanes are in progress and this will make it easier for cycling .

My street is absolutely fantastic ! Being a cul de sac it is very quiet and everyone who lives there knows everyone else . We all help each other out if needed : people are friendly and sociable . Some of us have parties and coffee mornings for our neighbours . It is mainly all home owners with just a few renters . Bin collections are regular and parking is regulated by the CPZ scheme .

Chiswick offers a good range of shops and amenities . We have three supermarkets as well as many independent shops which supply a diverse range of goods , particularly of an artisan or craft type . The pubs , bars , restaurants and pavement cafes are legendary . There are so many to choose from both along the High Road and along the river . It is a delightful experience to sit outside one of the cafes on the tree lined High Road , enjoying a coffee , as a pleasant interlude during your shopping , especially when the sun is out . You feel you are part of the 'buzz' and the general excitement that fills the atmosphere . Down by the river , it is absolutely sublime , with pubs between Kew Bridge and Chiswick Bridge all offering terraces or outdoor tables with stunning views of the river and tow path . There is a real holiday atmosphere here , where you could almost imagine yourself to be on the Chiswick Riviera ! Everywhere you look , people are sitting outside with their drinks , chatting , relaxing , reading or simply communing with nature . A little bit of the countryside in the city . It has to be one of the most wonderful , most desirable and idyllic places to live in London .

Depends where you draw your Chiswick borders, but 3 or 4 tube stations (across 2 branches of district line, where up to Turnham Green you have the benefit of both Richmond and Ealing Broadway lines) plus one overland below the A4 in Grove Park (goes into Clapham Junction and central London Waterloo). Also a North London line link near Chiswick Park. Pretty well served, but is appreciably further out than Hammersmith (which has 3 different tube lines coming into it). Huge array of buses. Cycle superhighway is being extended through Chiswick at some point in next couple of years which will make the sizeable population of Mamils happy.

Where you live in Chiswick determines the answer to this question. Part is in Hounslow Borough, part in Ealing. Services in both are generally pretty good. Weekly bin collections for Hounslow with garden waste an additional paid option. Slightly annoyingly main bin collection only fortnightly while recycling is weekly. Parking for residents with permits. Lots of (busy) paid parking bays. Big Sainsburys car park. Most people walk around but it's still Chelsea Tractor central since its a well off area. Profile-wise it's a mix of wealthy middle class families (the stereotypical West London profile) and longer term residents of all types. People do tend to stay in Chiswick for long periods of time since it's a lovely place to bring up a family and the houses can be expensive but spacious. Good sense of community rooted around the good schools (primary private and state) means families get to know one another. Lots of community groups and shared activities (including annual community organised fair)

Chiswick is pretty well served with shopping amenities. For example in food you have a big Sainsburys, smaller Tesco and Waitrose, plus a great array of independents (2 butchers, 1 fishmonger, lots of delis). Clothing, hardware & DIY all well catered for. Big Waterstones. What there is a huge amount of though is cafes, restaurants and coffee shops. All ranging from amazing (Michelin starred LaTrompette) to chain to quirky. Never eat anything you don't want to! Basically you don't need to leave too often if you don't want to (and many don't unless it's to go further outside London) but shopping wise Westfield is 10 mins drive or 20 mins bus away. Open spaces are pretty plentiful - River walks, Chiswick House and Gardens, Gunnersbury Park and lots of sports facilities (golf centre, swimming pools, rugby, football, multisports centres, gyms, tennis). Chiswick is made up of little communities (Grove Park, South of the A4 with bigger houses / gardens and on overland train but less easy tube access; Bedford Park, quite big expensive houses centrally located; Glebe Estate, small cottagey houses and strong community).

Transport is good, parking is not overcrowded, a few stations and loads of buses that go further west, I haven’t seen a bus that goes east London though
