. I would say some areas are trendy and some in need of regeneration

Most people are nice and helpful. I would say some areas are trendy and some in need of regeneration, it’s a bit of both. One thing I forgot to mention previously is there are quite a lot of schools in the area, therefore, parents will literally be spoilt for choice regarding school choice. Most people have pets as well, so anyone with pets would fit in nicely.

Transport

The transportation links are awesome. You can literally get to Westend in 10-15 minutes by bus. If you don’t fancy hopping on the bus, there’s the underground, which also has an overground trains and if you need to go outside London, you can link quickly from King’s Cross station to get trains that go outside London.

Community

In terms of parking, it has now become rubbish to be honest. In my area, parking in residents or kings spots is no longer allowed on the road Monday-Saturday 24 hours for visitors, therefore, pay and display has to be used and it is very expensive to do so. Also, considering the fact that this is a congestion charge area, anyone who wishes to commute via car, needs to consider the fact that the daily rate of £15 will be required of them, so you could quite easily spend £30-50 just driving into this area. Also, some roads have now become zero emission roads (Beech Street) or for only residents (Fortune Street), therefore, if you not not exempt to drive on those roads, you will receive a £65 penalty charge. This also means, you can get stuck in traffic on the Old Street roundabout as this has now been changed to suit cyclists (numpties).

Amenities

There are quite a few shops such as Waitrose, Co-Op, Sainsbury’s local, Tesco Express. The only disadvantage with this area is the nearest big Tesco is around Bethnal Green and Sainsbury’s in Angel and Iceland is Hoxton. Therefore, you always end up paying a little extra for groceries. However, that being said, if you’re not really into cooking, you won’t lack places to eat as there are restaurants dotted on almost every corner of the streets and Monday to Friday a street food market is in operation on Whitecross Street, a selection of cuisines are available to choose from and it runs till about 2.30pm. There are also a variety of pubs again almost on every corner of the streets, therefore, people who like to hang out with friends will not lack where to go. For those with families, there are parks as well. There’s a big sand park on the King’s Square estate and other little play grounds dotted around as well. There is a Leisure centre with a swimming pool as well called Ironmonger Row Baths. It also has a spa and a gym. There is a 24 hour gym called the Gym as well. So whether you are single or a family person, there’s something for everyone.

The only things that would be better would be to make things cheaper

The only things that would be better would be to make things cheaper

Transport

The transport links in Old street is second to none, there are tube, national rail busses and cycling options available the only drawback is parking being in the city

Community

Most people have problems with parking around here unless you have a permit. The area is really quite and has loads of local groups and activities

Amenities

Living in Old street is very good. It has loads of local shops, retail and restaurants. Great connection to other parts of London and also has lovely history hidden and located around the area

During summer the green spaces get very crowded which impacts their enjoyability.

The area has an eclectic mix which makes for a vibrant community, this is aided by the food and nightlife options. It really is inner city living which might not be for all but is for me.

Transport

Transport links are great, we are near lots of bus routes, have access to tubes and night tubes for travel within London. There is also liverpool street for trips out of London.

Community

There is some parking with the correct permit, relatively little road noise as it's not a major traffic route. The community is mostly renters from a range of backgrounds.

Amenities

The scene has changed due to covid however before the pandemic there were lots of bars and restaurants covering all cuisines and ranging from clubs to cocktails. The open spaces tend to be more limited.
