I've only just moved in, so I'm learning new things about the area all the time. I do like walking off the beaten track to find some true local gems. I would probably recommend to anyone renting in the area to sometimes explore the streets behind Hackney and Dalston high streets.
Transport
I walk towards Hackney Downs station so I can get into the City quickly. I like all the different areas near me though at the weekend, so either walk to them if it's close enough, or jump on one of the ridiculous amount of buses. The network can be a little confusing, and slow if i'm unlucky, but usually it's not to bad for short local trips.
Community
Probably the best thing about renting here in comparison to other areas of London is that i'm so close to London Fields Lido. It can get exceptionally busy though in the Summer which can be frustrating - but that's only reason on the scorching hot days. Otherwise, if you go early enough in the morning, it's easy to go for a swim.
Amenities
I live near a few takeaways. All very close proximity to me. For cafes or shops, head to Dalston or Hackney. Both are short distance. Very easy. Can't move for pubs on the back streets near me. which is great - as they're off the beaten track they tend to be for locals only which I prefer. Big supermarkets at Dalston Kingsland and Hackney. They are alirght for every day groceries.

I wish I had known that it can be very noisy at night sometimes as there are lots of young out at night time and lots of cars about till until about 3am usually! So make sure you have good windows so you can sleep well. I guess this is hard to avoid in London. Maybe if you want a quieter more family area is better to be in the suburbs of London. For now I am happy as I am only 27 but families may prefer somewhere quieter. As for dogs, I think you are ok here, there are reasonable parks nearby but maybe if you want fields this area may not be for you to stretch their legs regularly.

Not far you will find Hackney Downs Train station where the trains leave roughly every 10 minutes towards London Liverpool Street or there’s are regular buses heading towards central London.
Community
It can be a little lively at the weekends but it is a fun area to be. I feel safe here and people are friendly.

This area in London is quite a cool trendy area, with lots of wonderful independent cafes and what not all around. Got a really cool vibe! Lots to do and lot to explore!

Street is made of good mixture of home owners and renters and is a very desirable location due to it being very trendy.
