A plethora of shops are available to shop from around the area,both being common high street names and lesser known local businesses. This balance is great and helps to support the community whilst shopping at your favourite places

I really enjoy being so close to the city, but being in a smaller trendy community. There is so much to explore nearby with two gorgeous parks, and so many lovely local cafes and bakeries. I have never felt unsafe.
Transport
The Victoria line is very close and has the most reliable tube service of any I have experienced. It gets you north of the river very fast. There is also the northern line, which I don’t enjoy as much as it is always packed in the mornings and is very hot. There is the overground too, which doesn’t come as often but gets you where you need to go. There are a large range of buses that go from both Brixton and Clapham, with decent timetables. There is a night bus that runs between Brixton and Peckham, which I use often.

I don’t have a car so have not noticed any off street parking, I don’t know what the availability is or if you need permits. It’s very quiet traffic wise from the street, but there is the train tracks running on the other side which I found very noisy at first, but have gotten used to. There is a range of young family’s, and renters in this area. It feels very safe.
Amenities
There is an extensive range of local bars, cafes, restaurants and shops. In both Brixton and Clapham. Brockwell park and Clapham common are a short walk away, and are lovely green spaces. I can’t think of anything that is missing, it has everything you could need, and the transport links to get to Oxford Circus for shopping are super fast and easy.

I would think it’s not as safe as I first expected having moved from an averagely safe area. It’s semi trendy but there is a rough edge to it I am now more aware of due to being in the area during covid. The house I live in is lovely but the area is a bit more unsafe than I would like, but fear the gentrification I would like to see, will be slow to come as it has developed a lot as it is.

Very useful transport links- several buses go from just by my road in particular. Have both the Victoria and northern line at my avail. HEAVY congestion on the northern line makes it virtually impossible to get on at peak times, having to use the Stockwell interchange to get consider getting on it.
Community
Anti social behaviour can be rife at the top of my road, but has died back somewhat since police raids on the 12 or so men smoking weed/selling drugs. It’s also one of the few through roads that joins onto a bigger road so there is a lot of traffic. Being located so close to this is one of the single biggest drawbacks of living here. Street is a mixture of younger renters and people who own. 50/50 split of full houses vs those converted into flats.

I’m equidistant between two hubs of sout London so have quite a lot of functional shops in one high street and a lot of bars and restaurants on the other. The practical high street isn’t as nice to visit but offers more in terms of clothes/home furnishings, the other has less function but more variety of appealing restaurants and bars instead.
