The area is definitely safe, trendy, upmarket and a good place to raise kids owing to proximity to social amenities, parks, schools, libraries, hospitals, listed churches and in fact very historical places like the birth place of Charlie Chaplin, Oliver Goldsmith etc. It’s also a nice place to have and raise a pet. Well, everyone has got one with cats being the favourite.

Camberwell and in fact the whole of SE5 is just a stone throw from Central London and therefore centrally located with underground, overground, national rail, Santander cycle and buses literally a stone throw from every single doorstep. The area being near to Central London, in fact, about 2 miles is well served by night buses. The central location makes rush hour a pleasurable experience because there’s always another bus behind!

Being near to central London, parking can be a problem but then with well connected public transport who cares. Also, there’s always a Zipcar around the corner as well as Santander bike littered everywhere! Though on a major road leading into London, I must confess that traffic noise is not that bad compared to other suburbs near to a major city. The area is also not bad in terms of security so far you take caution. Being a predominantly student living area, you’d expect some anti-social behaviours sometimes but not one serious enough to invite a major concern. Think about, students will always be students!

New York is a city that never sleeps. If that’s true then Camberwell is a suburb of London that suffers from insomnia. The suburb is always lively with huge open Burgess Park, probably the biggest in London. The Camberwell High Street is centrally located and well connected to all parts of London. In fact, it’s less than 20 minutes walk from Central London. Living in Camberwell is like living in Central London but on a suburb budget. The High Street is never lacking in anything including restaurants, gyms, schools, library and every single thing in life that makes a huge city. The transport link is also on top as the Camberwell just like the rest of SE5 is centrally located to underground, overground, national rail, Santander bike and of course bus routes service almost half the buses in London going into Central London.

Camberwell is the centre on London. Yes it's not on the tube, and the nearest station is Denmark Hill, but it's so central and everything is just a walk, a bus ride or a short cycle away. Bars like Stormbird, coffee shops like Fields and Lumberjack, and restaurants like Theo's and Flour to the people mean that even if you don't like here, you should visit! And don't forget our many local parks, including Myatts Fields which has been rated as one of the top ten parks in London.

Transport links a readily available. Closest bus stop is a road away on the main road. Camberwell Green station has the Bakerloo line which has late night tubes across London. They are usually very reliable with the rare severe delay. Rush hour can get quite bad since it’s close to metropolitan areas like Brixton. The area is also fairly clean.

There is residential parking permits someone can purchase daily to yearly. Bin collections are weekly and prompt. I have experience but very rarely experienced anti social behaviour like drunk people walking down the street; loud noise only lasts a short time when it happens. It is a family inhabited area.

It’s quite residential so there isn’t too wide a range of shops and amenities. There is a decent selection of pubs and local eat out places like Grove House which is also family friendly. If you take a bus for like 10mins into Brixton you’ll find a wide range.
