Lanark Rd, W9 1DAWhen I think of my local area, W9, I feel it is a modern, yet charming area of London.
When I think of my local area, W9, I feel it is a modern, yet charming area of London. Though there are many blocks of modern residential accommodation, this is balanced by many gardens, parks and entertainment such as bars and restaurants. The atmosphere in the local area is very upmarket, but in an approachable and comfortable way, making the area very liveable. Considering its proximity to central London, it feels remarkably safe for children, and the closeness of many open spaces makes it ideal for walking your pet, or taking your children for a walk.
Transport
W9 has amazing proximity to numerous tube lines, bus lines and access to the overground. Nearby, Maida Vale and Warwick Avenue serve the Bakerloo Line, St Johns Wood serves the Jubilee and Kilburn High Road serves the Overground between Watford Junction and Euston. There are many buses that pass through W9, most conveniently the 46, 98 and 414, among others. The access to transport links really is great and makes going into Central London even more convenient and simple. The buses in this area could have a more reliable service, but the tube and overground lines come very regularly and reliably. In such a central area there is also great access to the Santander bikes.

The street I live on is a relatively peaceful one; during daytime it can become a bit noisy with cars on their way to Central London, but for the most part it is quite quiet and relaxed. Luckily there is very little (if ever any) anti-social behaviours, as most people on living on the street are families and couples looking for peace from the hustle-and-bustle of Central London. Luckily there is a fair amount of parking availability, as most residents don’t have cars and instead travel by bus, overground of tube. Additionally, the bins are collected very regularly, making the area generally always appear very clean and attractive.

The W9 area has a great array of amenities, particularly fresh food grocers and restaurants with a range of different cuisines. The area is conveniently situated between Central London, with Paddington and Kensington within walking distance, and North West London, right by Regents Park and Oxford St, meaning there are even more choices of bars and restaurants. A big pull towards the W9 area is the close proximity to many open spaces, with local gardens such as Little Venice Gardens and Paddington Recreational Gardens nearby, and bigger parks such as Regent’s Park and Primrose Hill nearby too. If I had to critique any amenities being lacking, it would be that there aren’t a huge amount of regular supermarkets.

Transport
Little Venice is ideally suited for travel both within London and to rest of the country, being located next to Paddington Station. The Heathrow express operates from this station, which is a fantastic service and takes approximately 15 minutes. In addition to Paddington, Edgeware Road stations are close by, and serve a wide number of lines.There are also a great number of bus routes, from both Paddington and Edgeware road so it is easy to plan your journey anywhere in London. Oxford Street is only 15 minutes away. There are also plenty of night buses,which are reliable. Plus there is a tube Station at Warwick Avenue which is ideal if you are visiting the area for a day out .Cycling is very popular in this area and there are several cycle paths. Obviously Paddington gets extremely busy at rush hour as it is a main line station best avoided at that time if at all possible.

My area is very safe to live in, mainly householders in large residential properties with big gardens. The streets are kept very clean any detritus left is soon removed. Rubbish collections are twice a week, and provision is made for garden waste. There is a problem with parking as there are very few places to park as most spots are delegated to residents so it is hard for visitors to find anywhere to park and there are no car parks in the area. There has been a spate of breaking recently, extra police are checking the area.There is also a high incidence of mugging for mobile phones, several people I know have had their phone or sunglasses snatched by thieves on motorbikes or bicycles.

Little Venice is one of the most picturesque parts of London, where can enjoy walks along the tow path by the side of the canal and see much wildlife as well as the gaily painted houseboats moored alongside. There are several very pleasant gastro pubs with outdoor space along the route and an excellent seafood restaurant, The Summerhouse which overlooks Browning Basin and is an ideal place for a leisurely lunch .In addition Sheldon Square , nearby has a good selection of restaurants and bars with all tastes catered for, Mexican, Chinese, European to name a few, plus there are a number of pop up street food vendors which vary from week to week. In the summer months they often have live music in the amphitheatre where there is lots of seating so you can take your own picnic or get provisions from the local supermarket, Sainsbury's. There are also several water based activities, for the more adventurous, paddle boarding and canoeing or a safer option, Goboat All in all it is a great place to live and a great place to visit.

There is a good range of pubs nearby , a couple good bars and several fun open space venues. The shops are mostly grocery stores and homewards shops, but with 20 minutes you can get to major retail.
