Overview of SE1 8YP, Belvedere Road, South Bank

I am very fond of the rejuvenation projects ongoing in the area, it definitely looks needed with some buildings and such being extremely run down. There always seems to be homeless people around which is always sad to see, it would be nice to see more done for these people in need. The traffic in the area can be quite threatening, traffic systems should be simplified to reduce congestion and also speed cameras introduced as there is always speeding drivers around Elephant and Castle, it would also be nice to see investment into other areas such as Peckham, not only E&C.

Transport

Living in Elephant & Castle the transport links are second to none, having the Tube Station which has both the Bakerloo line and Northern line available for transport to areas north of the Thames, The Elephant & Castle Train Station has excellent links to South East London in very short journeys. Waterloo Station & Vauxhall Station offer excellent links to Southwest London as well as links to the South of England. Bus links are excellent also at Elephant & Castle with many buses having E&C as their starting/finishing destination

Community

Street Parking tends to be very difficult with limited spaces available, of which free spaces are almost always used. Central Elephant & Castle tends to be a fairly noisy and busy place to be but this seems to ease down significantly at night.

Amenities

There are many popular shops around however around Elephant & Castle area, the closing of the Elephant Shopping Centre has seen the disappearance of small businesses in the area.

It's upmarket and trendy. There's also a hospital very close by so in terms of basic amenities and necessities, you are covered. Having said that, it's not particularly child friendly in the sense of large open spaces and gardens or parks. It might be suitable for a family with very young children but once kids are mobile, it's not an ideal place.

Transport

The closest tube and train station is Waterloo. It's a busy hub and most of the mainline tube services and train services run out of Waterloo. There's also buses.

Community

There is barely any parking available as per most of Central London. It's always noisy and bustling. You can hear the trains through the day and the busker musicians too. Late at night recently there have been drag races...

Amenities

There are restaurants, bars, shops and food markets. There is a weekly food market and also seasonal markets such as the Christmas market. Sometimes there are also cultural events where food and good such as clothes and accessories are sold.
