London’s place of peace

It is quite windy where I live, something that can be very enjoyable in summer, but very hard to withstand in winter as it makes it even colder outside. Outside of this and the fireworks (which only occured a month ago and stopped since then), the place is really calm and enjoyable. The people are really nice, the coffee shop is amazing, the nisa local shop’s family is very friendly and the place is, overall, a very nice place to stay at. The park offers a nice green view, something rare in London and walking my pet through it is always a pleasure.

Transport

Right next to where I live is located a tfl bycicle area which makes it very convenient when needing to travel small or medium distances. The Mile End station is also at a 15mn walk, a station through which passes the central line, one of the main metro lines. However it can be quite busy from day to day which is why it might be more convenient to walk an extra 5/10mn to the stepney green station or even go for the Langdon park station through which passes the dlr, allowing to travel to canary wharf in no time. The place also has a range of different buses even though I don’t usually use them. Traffic usually flows pretty smoothly and since I have lived here, I have not encountered any problems linked to traffic or cleanliness issues. I would say that the Mile End station can get really overcrowded sometimes which makes the access to the station impossible, an issue which, even though is pretty rare, can be pretty annoying when in a rush to go to work.

Community

There are a very wide range of people living on my street, students, families, renters. My street is full of apartments so the diversity is also pretty normal. Parking spots are always available and even on crowded days, a parking spot can be found further down the road or along the bartlett park. Amenities are currently being put in place to facilitate bin collection which is great especially for cardboards and glass bins which weren’t emptied fast enough. As mentioned earlier, there are some occasional fireworks which can quickly become annoying for some residents, especially pet owners but apart from that, there isn’t any other source of disturbance. I am also lucky to have musicians living on the floors below me which makes it very pleasant in the evening to listen to some old fashioned music played live. The E14 Roasthouse even organizes some musical events from time to time which is as pleasant to listen to with the windows opened.

Amenities

Shops are really nice in our area, ranging from basic grocery stores to friendly coffee shops or bakeries, theses premises are usually pretty calm which makes studying very easy. The bartlett park is also really nice, especially in summer where the air blows some cool fresh air keeping the area at a very nice temperature and its childs’ play area is also a pleasant place to keep the kids entertained while enjoying the park. However, the diversity of restaurants is pretty limited even though a few traditional restaurants can be found next to pubs and pizzerias. The E14 Roasthouse is pretty popular next to where I live, offering a range of delicious french pastries, the staff there is always welcoming and friendly and their pain au chocolat are pretty amazing. Overall, there’s nothing to be disapointed about. There are a lot of grocery stores, some run by kind family businesses, a few very good pubs and coffee shops offering a wide range a fresh and delicious produce, a vast park in which to take some fresh air and the place is really calm apart from occasional fireworks in the evening.

Lots of community events take place through the year.

It is a very busy lively area however it does need regeneration. Generally I feel very safe in the area people are always out and about.

Transport

E14 has an excellent transport link. You have the DLR stations that are all within walking distance from anywhere in E14. There is always a bus route running through most local areas that run very effeciently and come very often. It's very easy to get to an underground station. Traffic is mainly quite good except for the build traffic from Rotherhithe tunnel and Blackwall tunnel. The junction at the end of east India Dock Road can be very dangerous for both motorists and pedestrians as the lights are often covered by larger vehicles and people start crossing when traffic slows down.

Community

The street I live in is a very quiet residential street. Very diverse. Lots of community events take place through the year. Situated very close to most amenities. We have mainly families with young children living here. Recently a few houses have been turned in to houses for short term renters which can cause some disruption.

Amenities

Their is an array of different restaurants in the area. A taste of cuisine from all around the world. We have Chrisp Street Market which have a lot shops that have most essentials needed for everyday living. As well as many small newsagents and off licenses spotted around residential areas away from the market. There are also many parks for children to play in most estates have their own little parks. There is also plenty of open spaces for picnics and a run around such as Bartlett Park and Langdon Park. You also have the Thames Riverside walk way which can be faster way to get around sometimes. I would say our local area would benefit from some clothing retail stores as there is only the market stores that currently sell clothing and more indoor play areas or a cinema for children for when the weather is not great.

Decent place to live

We have a strong diverse community at E14 however some of the older homes are crying out for regeneration.

Transport

There are many transport links like multiple bus routes Bromley by bow train station and also Langdon park train station, However like many inner city postcodes there is a lot of litter

Community

My street is fairly quiet however quite overcrowded parking is a problem aswell but wer are close to multipurposes the help reduce antisocial behaviour from the youth

Amenities

E14 is has a heavily diverse community which his recently undergone a lot of regeneration, it has many cultured shops and lots things to do with amenities such as parks and leisure centres
