London, SW15 3LNPutney has some very pretty streets, but sadly I am not living on one of them.
Cycling from around here is pretty good for getting about London - but I don't have anywhere convenient to put it in my flat and I don't want to chain it up outside in case it gets stolen.
Transport
I'm a short walk to either the train or tube station down the hill. The walk back is a bit worse than the walk there as it is a steepish hill, but I am splitting hairs. The bus stop at the end of street has a handful of routes that go from it and are very frequent.
Community
Putney has some very pretty streets, but sadly I am not living on one of them. I live in a block of purpose built flats like most of the buildings in my immediate vicinity. They're not great for making friends with the neighbours - but nor have I ever had any problems with them either.
Amenities
I like being close to Putney Heath and then only a short walk to Putney high street. It gives me the best of both worlds - the buzz of a Capital city and some open green space. The Green Man is my closest pub and has just been done up. It's a stylish enough refurbishment - but not particularly original.
Chartfield Ave, SW15 6HGIts biggest strength though is proximity to the common.
Its a nice safe area that's good for kids and pets.
Transport
Cycling is easy but the main transport links are a reasonable walk, especially if you need to get to the tube. In the world of uber though that is less of a direct issue.
Amenities
Good amenities for one with a family. Decent schools and nurseries and some good coffee shops. Its biggest strength though is proximity to the common.
Nursery Cl, SW15 6ASPutney
Great area to live in and really handy for shops, restaurants and leisure. Bishop’s Park and Wandsworth Park are nearby and both lovely (if a bit busy!) Transport is good- Putney station has direct trains to Waterloo and the district line runs from East Putney (when it works!) The only downsize living on a ground floor flat is the noise from upstairs/next door but that is to do with the people more than the area. Lots of families and house shares with people in their 20’s/30’s live around here.
